on a scale

Birds Pictures, Images and Photos

I have a budding scientist in the house.

Who needs some help.

He's creating a poll regarding birds. And their popularity among humans.

So on a scale of 1 - 5 (1 being HATE them - 5 being LOVE them) how do you feel about birds?

Please leave a comment with your number so he can continue his tally!

lets see...hmmm....

don't like when they chirp and wake me up in the morning...it's a choir in my backyard

don't like when they build nests in my gutter...

if they eat the worms...that's good... 1 for worms...

I will give birds a 2.5...
right in the middle!

I am about a 2. I can appreciate pretty bird, like cardinals and robins. But for the most part, birds scare me. If I see a bunch of birds outside visions of Alfred Hitchcock start dancing in my head. Pigeons are nasty and kind of scary too. My uncle also used to have a mean parrot that would walk around biting people (!) and that has obviously scarred me for life. It's probably best not to share all of these details lest I instill a similar bird phobia. :)

I say 3. I like most birds. The woodpeckers that eat my trees looking for bugs drive me crazy though.

i would say a 3. i'm not really scared of them, but there is this one woodpecker that just goes to town early in the morning and it drives me nuts.

kylie would probably give them a 3 as well. she loves to watch them eat from the bird feeder. she doesn't understand why they run and then fly away when she tries to get close to them...she then puts her hands up, as if to say "where'd they go?"

I feed them four different foods in five feeders. There is a birdbath next to my computer outside the sunroom for my cat's and my enjoyment. I watch them at home and in the woods, or anyplace else I find myself, the beach being the best. I maintain a record of what I've seen. I aspire to identify them just by sound alone.

I have books, books, books and stacks of great photographs I have taken of birds.

So, Toby, I guess I'm an enthusist and a 5+++.

Check this out. Its my favorite place for birding.

I would give birds a 2. I have a woodpecker that has made a nice hole in my porch outside. There are also a bunch of birds that sit on all the rocks around my pool and poop on them. Yuck!

Birds..... hmmmmmm I'll give them them a 1. I know they do serve a purpose by eating insects but thats about all ill give them.. And because they eat insects, which I rate at a -1, that means they have to poop. On newly washed cars....... which is why I give them only a 2

I would say I am a 2.5... I like to look at them in theory, but don't like when they wake kids up chirping, don't like bird poop on stuff, and really don't like when they build nests in our garage and dive bomb us when we try to get in and out of our van. :)

Oh, and we recently had a crazy hawk crash through the front of our van when we were driving and the dumb thing did more damage than the deer we hit last year...

Meh....I'd give them a 2. Cardinals and blue jays are pretty but birds don't really do all that much to get really high marks from me. I'd give them a 3, except the one thing they DO do is "doodoo" on my car.

depends on the birds but for me, I think I am a one. Love and hugs, Bibi

Have to say 3. I don't mind the chirping of some birds, but I really don't like the crows and their cawing....they drive me nuts!
