we survived a visit to Dr. Toofer

All 3 kids had their dental appointment this morning. Just in case I hadn't let my crazy show enough recently.

::smile::

Old school for Toby and Bri.

New and scary for Trevy. Although they did let me stay in the room with him while they brushed & flourided his chompers. He was not a fan. I couldn't help but wonder if he thought they looked like OR staff too. In their gowns and masks and sharp objects.

And of course of the three he'd be the one with a cavity. Which Dr. D said we'll watch for the next six months as it's really teensie. We then had an interesting convo about how to care for it should it come to that. I patiently waited until after her schpiel about the risks of anesthesia to assure her that I'm no sleep med rookie. Nor is he. And that I think the risks of Trevy being traumatized at the dentist's office were greater than that of putting him to sleep. Even if it is just a 10 minute procedure!

Ugh.

Anyway...

we survived. Although I'm feeling might cranky now!

Ugh!!! Our dentist recommends using children's toothpaste with xylitol. Here is a link about it...

I'm crazy and do all three kids at once also, but they are pros now, so it's usually painless. The hardest part is getting them to leave the waiting room, what with all the video games they have!

I think I would have been tempted to pretend to have a panic attack when they listed the risks of anesthesia. And then asked them if it's more risky than removing half of his brain. Just to see the look on their faces... but I'm bad like that.

Glad it was only one...Colby has had only one in 25 years, and it got infected and we had to pull it...

That is too funny about the anesthesia, though....I couldn't help but laugh out loud!!! The stories you could tell those folks!

I'm with Wendi. I would have totally gone the bad route! lol

My kids aren't too fond of the dentist, but I can't say I blame them. Personally, I don't like them myself and I think they are nothing but licensed torturists.
