7 snippets (the one where I’m cranky and need a Sabbatical)

1…

Today was Dentist Day.

Trevy has at least one cavity. Parenting fail

Seriously.

I.feel.SO.guilty.

And don’t tell me not to either!  I know how often I brush his teeth….

Ugh.

2…

Why does a 48 hour flu kick my boot for 48 days?

Or longer…

There are so many thoughts swirling around inside me.  Thoughts that I want to share.  Are worth sharing.  But it just takes too much energy to spit them out.  I need energy!

3…

Never mind energy…

I need a sabbatical!

From everything.

I keep trying to line item all the things I’m sick to death of.  Need a break from.  But “everything” pretty much sums it up!

Which is why I need to be sent away somewhere.  And quick!

Preferably alone.  For the first week (at least).  And somewhere warm-ish.  Near the shore.  And Disney.  And take out.  That delivers quickly.  Because mama ain’t cookin’ on no sabbatical!

4…

Jonathan’s brother is in town for the weekend.  My kids go ga-ga over family.  They’re kinda cute when they’re ga-ga.   Also super cute, is how Trevy keeps calling him…

Mister Byron

instead of Uncle.

5…

Bristel has been a taking sneaky videos fool.  Most of them delete material.  But this one was too cute not to share…

6…

After being on the home-based ABA wait list for over a year

I found out this week…

that Trevy is next on the list!

Hooray!

Of course, it’s still going to be a bit of wait (like 6 months) since all the ABA providers are waiting to see how the recent shift in Autism diagnosis is going to affect funding.  I did make the point that Trevy is a Brain Injury case not Autism.  We’re all crossing fingers (and pretty much everything that’s crossable) that makes the process move forward a bit more quickly.

7…

Did I mention that I need a Sabbatical?

I'll meet you at Logan for the next flight to a Greek Island. Bring your bikini and just rock it! Drinks with umbrellas forthcoming!

Love the video and self positive reinforcer (clapping for himself :) ) Yay on next on list!! We don't have in home ABA after age three. I thought I would hate it, but I love it! Someone is totally engaging her for 2.5 hours in my home every day and they don't care how my house looks!

LOVE the video and self reinforcer (clapping for himself) I thought I would hate the in home ABA, but I love it. When she is three she has to go to school full time. No in home ABA, but maybe I should put her and Sam on the list for after school Section 28 ABA. We are having a lot of trouble with him lately. I have not had the guts to post on my blog. The changes should not matter for anyone yet since the book does not come out until May 2013??They are full of it!!! Both of my kids are all set. Straight ASD dx's (early onset Epilepsy for K too, whatever that means..?) Poduka in April!!

Ps: I want a sabbatical, house keeper, full time ABA instructor, handyman, Full time Nanny and a million dollars ;)

Mama Aiden...I might be able to rock a TANK-ini...with a VERY opaque cover up! :P But I would totally do it!

Kristen...so funny how state to state options vary. I had to get an attorney involved to get Trevor school based ABA because our state typically provides it in home. Now that we have two years of data collected on how MUCH ABA has benefited him hopefully it'll be easier and easier to advocate for it.

Oh and I'm 100% with ya on your ps. thoughts!

Oh, how I can relate to the need for a sabbatical! I get away from the fam on a semi-regular basis, but it's usually for a marathon or other race, which is not relaxing at all!

I think I could get by if I just took a few hours to go to our local beach - it's, as you specified, warm-ish and a shore!

Thanks for participating in SSF!

Before you beat yourself up - research the difference between calcium fluoride and sodium fluoride. Parents are fighting a losing battle while dentists tell them they just need to put more poison in their kid's mouth. And feel guilty for not doing it enough in the first place. B.S.

P.S. I am not going to fill your blog comments with the details. I know you'll 'get it,' medical moms are good with details. The general public, sadly... not so much.
