Soooooo...



I actually kinda hate the show. It's cheesy. And annoying. And totally not Hopkins...which I loved!



But one of the topics today is interesting enough to me that I'll probably watch.



Today on The Doctors...



they'll be discussing the topic of hemispherectomy epilepsy surgery (the same as Trevy's surgery) to control seizures in a 15 month old little boy.

OMG, I've watched that show a few times. I've found some useful information a couple of times.

Unfortunately, I'll miss this one. It's on tv when I'm getting the girls off the bus and picking up Kym so I'll miss it.....*sigh*

Thanks for posting this. They did a special once on Tuberous Sclerosis Complex and talked about resection (subtotal hemispherectomy). TSC is what caused Remy's IS, and he had a subtotal. It is great to see shows getting awareness out there. People don't realize how devastating seizure disorders are and how terribly they can hinder the development of little ones. Yay for the Dr.'s.

i saw it. it was a family from Bosnia and their son looked pretty young to me. don't they typically wait til the kid is about 2 or so?
...i just looked it up, the little guy was 15 months old.

i didn't catch what type of epilepsy they say he had...i know they didnt say IS.

they basically said what happens to the brain when seizures occur, and how the procedure was done. at the end they brought the little guy out and briefly said how much progress he has made since his surgery...i wish they would have talked more about his development pre and post surgery.

i know kylie hasnt gone through this, but it made me cry and feel all those emotions that we felt with her diagnosis...wounds still have much healing.

We actually had a friend e-mail us about the show & i looked it up for funsies. WHEW!!! is all I can say. You can go to the show's website & search hemispeherectomy. Actually, I know you don't have time to be googling stuff like that. How about I just forward you the email I sent my hubby to watch??
P.S. i don't like that show either...never watch it. All of those doctors ride my nerves a little bit. I'm more of a Dr. Oz type of girl!

Danielle...Been lax @ checking blogs...Missed this episode...Will check their website...

The show is OK...I pick up a few tidbits here and there when I watch...

Sometimes I feel so SATURATED in medical "stuff," I just can't watch those shows...Unless it is something I am particularly interested in...

I saw episode about the little guy with TSC...and it is on You Tube if you want to find it there. You're the second cyber friend who brought it up this week. I have another friend here in ON who is pushing to have her son...he's 2...assessed for surgery as nothing is helping his seizures. They were looking to go to New York but it looks like it may work out here in Canada at Toronto Sick Kids. Anyway....
....glad Trevy's progressing well and that the initial stages of surgery are behind you guys.

I cried when I got the news

I felt like such a heel not going with Trevy for his first post hemi EEG. Yeeeeeees...Jonathan went with him. Yeeeeeees...he's just as good as me. But still! He's my baby! I was instead sitting on floor 6 east waiting for Neurology to get their boots here and help me sort out this medicine mess! I sure hope...

they grow back curly! Saw the "unknown" flashing on the face of my cell phone and knew who it was. Who it had to be. Dr. Fellow. My eyes met Grams' and I nodded. Grams has a pool, see. For super hot days like today. We're also having a septic installed. Which meant no water or facilities at my place. But those weren't really the reasons I was there. Close to mom. The purple ringing thing in my hand was. Only I wasn't prepared for it to be ringing SO darn soon. Shortly after lunch instead of dinner! I swallowed. Took a deep breath. And clicked connect. Dr. Fellow has a very nice phone tone. Clear. Hint of compassion. If only a stitch of humor were added...it'd be heavenly. But there was no humor. Just business. He's very direct. I'm learning that about him. Which explains his short hello. Followed by immediately pushing into the news. Being that it was a unanimous consensus. it's like being asked to the prom...

only MUCH MUCH bigger! I had noticed (yes...I stalk my site meter!) that a government ISP had logged onto Trevor's blog. Whoever it was had spent a good deal of time hanging out too. Followed a few minutes later by a government ISP...hailing from Washington. As in DC! My eyebrow raised. It was just kinda odd. Note-able odd. You know? Anyway...later that day (last week) I was folding laundry & thinking my crazy insane thoughts. Along these lines... I hope I'm not saying anything I shouldn't! Maybe I made somebody mad?
