on reserve

The topic of books to read came up on one of my IS online support groups.

What better way to hunker down and wait out the tornado watches than...

...putting the new online request form from our library to good use?

I wonder what the librarian will say when she hands me the following stack...

Maybe she'll ask if I'm working on a thesis?

No...

I'm just working on being a mommy to an extraordinary little boy...

I'll respond if she does.

Why not leave a comment with your book recommendations for reservation as well...

I've read "The brain that Changes itself" Its a REALLY good book.
I recommend it not only parents post Epilepsy surgery, but also parents of kids with Epilepsy in general. It really gives you soo much hope about the brains ability to learn new pathways when the old ones are either removed or just don't work.

Hey there, I read the Brain that changes itself, some brilliant bits in there, and it will give you (and us all) so much hope that those amazing-less-than-whole-brains really can do everything :)

The language one sounds v interesting, may look it up myself.

One of my biggest "mommy guilt" issues...is that I had essentially given up on Trevy's ability to learn. After spending nearly two years trying to teach him where his nose was...and seeing the look of non-comprehension. It got to my heart. And I found myself starting to believe he would never be more than he was. When I think about it now...I hate myself for getting to that point. And wish I had gotten my hands on The Brain that Changes Itself sooner!
