that makes twice

I confess I was beginning to think it was just a lucky sit . But tonight makes twice! Trevy has done pee-pee on the potty twice now! Twice I say! Ooooooh if you coulda seen the Potty Dance we had going on! Trevy loves a good dance. ::smile:: Twice is good. But just in case... I give you The Therapist Recommended Ebay Purchased Because This Product Has Been Discontinued By The Manufacturer Which Is A Little Disconcerting Back Up Plan :

I survived a weekend flying solo (almost)

He left in the wee hours of the morning on Friday. At some ungodly hour. Which is why I told him not to wake us... I regretted that later. Off to celebrate the marriage of his youngest brother. Practically on the other side of the country. Louisiana. We've been there once. And that was enough! My emotions were mixed. On the one hand I wanted him to go. And celebrate. Eat. Drink. And be merry. On the other hand. We have three kids. And I really don't think it's fair to count Trevy as just one. Because by golly...caring for him takes the same amount of energy as caring for five. I sense that eyebrow raisage. I know you think it's just me being dramatic. But cross my heart it's true. Ask Grams. Ask Miss. CNA. Ask Jonathan even...who has taken to lovingly calling Trevy our one year old three year old. They'll all assure you that behind that cute crooked smile and delicious curls and heart of a lion...is a little boy whose needs are utterly endlessl...

he wants - she wants

She wants to buy an i-Pad, like, two months ago. He wants to think things through. She wants to download free educational Trevy friendly apps...two months ago already! He wants to wait til' Christmas. She wants to make the most of every single moment. We've got a right sided brain to re-wire after all! He wants to make the most of every single moment and penny...and has heard prices will be much reduced right around Christmas. She wants him to read this post... And then she'll hear more about what he wants! ::smile::

summers are for splashin' (a backyard therapy picture marathon)

The kids loooooove Grams & Pop Pop's pool! It's certainly been a summer o' swimming weather in the North East. In fact, we finally broke down and ac-ed the whole house! Partially for Trevy's sake. Weird but true. He's been on Topomax for almost 2 years now...but this is the first summer we're seeing the tell tale signs of over heating. Inhibiting the body's ability to sweat is a Topomax side effect which increases the risk of heat stroke and seizures. AEDs are SO fun. Ugh. Makes you wonder if removing the broken parts of his brain...changed the way his body processes things? Makes me wonder anyway... So we have been spending quite a bit of time chill-axin' in their 4 feet of backyard refreshing. Trevy is quite the handful in the water. I swear he's on a mission to drown himself. Or me. Trying to teach that kid to keep his mouth closed feels impossible! But it's good therapy. Movement in the water. So they say... Water used to...

i-phone update

Even if my heart is heavy and sappy...how can I not smile when I read this email? This morning in circle we were going over the months. All the kids said this month was july, when Trevor was asked what month it was he replied "July". During speech we went to the library to do sone computer time. Another teacher said "hello" to Trevor and he responded back with "hello!" Sent from my iPhone

almost three years later

Almost three years later... it shouldn't be able to creep up behind me and squeeze the tears straight up from my heart to gush down my face. Almost three years later... you'd think it wouldn't anymore. And yet it does.
