liar liar pants on fire

Trevy has been exceptionally chatty lately. Now let me clarify...because I worry sometimes that the substance of what I mean is lost in bloggy translation. Chatty does not mean we're having typical little mommy and 3 year old convos on the couch. It doesn't mean we're reading Seek & Find books together. Chatty doesn't even really mean understandable. Trevy's speech is still VERY immature. Or unintelligible as Ms. Speech emailed the other day. Most of his communication comes in single word fashion. He's a noun lover too. So we hear more "doors" "cars" "boats" and such...than we do action words. In fact, I'm fairly certain the only verb he has going on is "go"? Unless you count "pa pa" which means "piggy back". And is commanded from his climbed up behind me position. Arms wrapped around my neck. And clearly demanding activity to take place. ::smile:: But he's trying! An...

weekend whirlwind (a picture marathon)

Our weekend whirlwind included some really special blog-a-lish moments... Like Trevy enjoying his very first popsicle! It took a little work helping him figure out that it was easier to eat when holding the stick as opposed to the icy part! But once he got the hang of it... summer became a whole new experience for him! If you ask me... I could skip the icy pop and just eat the delicious little kiddos up instead! Bristel learned how to swing all by herself! which is totally great for her... and ME! And how adorable is she sporting the sun kissed face and the Look At Me Mommy smile! And Toby...our little athlete...made the Tiverton All Star team again this year! I love to see him sporting his uniform...and game face... And he loves to see me sporting his team's ball cap...and glowing proud mommy face! It felt like Friday had just settled on the horizon... when suddenly Monday was glowing over the shore. The start of a new week. Filled to the brim with the busy-ness that is our life...

meanwhile

While I was busy boo-hooing it here. Trevy was busy woo-hooing it down the street in school! His teachers practically ran each other down racing to greet me when I arrived to pick him up yesterday! Their sweet faces were all alight with excitement over what a fabulous day he'd had. He must have matured a year over the weekend! One of them cheered. He sat for a 50 minute whole school assembly! Raved another. Yes...you read that right Five-Zero. I know! I'm flabbergasted too! And that's not it either! He sat through circle time. All.By.Himself. He usually needs to be glued to a grown-up lap. But not yesterday. Yesterday...he was making big boy progress! When it was his turn at the art table he had to wait while Teacher finished up with other students. Have I mentioned that waiting and Trevy are polar opposites? But not yesterday. Yesterday...I heard that he patiently waited his turn. Without licking or eating or tearing or throwing or pulling - not a single t...

catching up to me

I've been feeling SO weary lately. And it's not really like I have a solid reason for it. Not that changes in emotional tides are ever easy to pinpoint anyway. But generally speaking...I'm wiped. Zonked. Bone tired. Ready to just fold up and sink to the floor. If I were even inflated at all, that is. It struck me yesterday as I was collecting all our various junk scattered around Grams' yard. My parents installed a nice big pool this year for the grandkiddies. And it's been hot as heck here...so we're taking advantage. In fact, I had driven straight there after Trevy's Monday out-patient Speech. And we'd spent about an hour splashing around and attempting to teach Trevy how to keep his mouth closed so he'd stop freaking me out with all that water intake. Am I the only parent who had nightmares about dry drowning after the Today Show's segment last summer? Anyway... It struck me as I willed myself to bend over just one more time. To p...

randomnings

Grams swung by to pick up errand loving Bristel. Toby waves bye and says with glee... Bye Bye Bristel... Hellooooo alone time with Mommy! ********** Bristel was watching Toby kick some Kupa tail on the Wii when suddenly she cries... What smells terrible ?!?!?! To which Toby simply grins and replies... Sorry. ********** Toby walked in the kitchen while I was filling a dish with enchiladas. His love affair with Mexican food started while we were in Tanzania. I had gobs of taco seasoning packets and seasoned everything with it! Toby licked his lips and sighed... Dinner tonight looks dreeeeeamy ********** Random Swahili fact: tako (pronounced like the English taco) in Swahili means butt And yes...we giggled every time we ate taco salad for dinner. ::smile:: ********** Toby's explaination on why he loves Mexican food: Because I'm part Italian and everyone knows that Italians love Mexican food. ********** As Bristel was running upstairs to grab her Prince Charming doll she dec...

dream night 2010

I'm not gonna lie. In between all the therapies, toxin pushing, seizures, surgeries, doctors appointments, special ed advocating, doctor discussions, meltdowns, tears, fears, sleepless nights, fuzzy futures... in between all that... you will find a Special Needs perk hidden here n' there. Dream Night at Zoo is one of those perks! Our local Children's Hospital sponsors a special night every June... for families dealing with chronic medical conditions... to come and enjoy all the zoo has to offer. Beside other families living in the trenches too. There are fun little exploration centers set up everywhere... like this clay-mation station which sensory Trevy wasn't too thrilled about... But his artsy sister was! Toby actually stayed behind this year. Instead, attending a very (if you're a 9 year old boy) important Little League game. It was a big deal. See, I'm fairly uptight about supporting each other. But he came to me very maturely and explained his reas...
