well that sounds ominous

I emailed Dr. Rockstar earlier today... ********** Hope you had a wonderful holiday! On to business... I finally received the pathology report in the mail. It was far less helpful than I'd hoped! When you have time...can you please help me understand what the findings were? I did not see anything that specifically stated cortical dysplasia? But then it could be that I do not understand all the lingo? Thanks...and best... ...danielle ********** His super quick Rockstar response back... Best to discuss it on the telephone after the holidays when i have the chart in front of me. Call me then. 555-555-5555. Happy New year. ********** What the heck is that supposed to mean?!?!?! Jonathan says it just sounds like he hasn't read the report yet...and I should stop acting so sinister... ::smile::

winter wonderful (a picture marathon)

random-nings

After bringing Callie inside from a romp in the patches of snow Toby announces... She's really cute! pauses...then adds... No offense! Which prompts my asking... huh ? Well...no offense that I think she's as cute as you! Declares my son...with the most serious of faces! ********** I finally reach my boiling point with all the running and ruckus behind me. I huffed at Bristel... "What in the world are you doing?" She comes to an abrupt halt. Puppy hanging from her arms. "I'm just playing Dog Catcher, mommy!" I probably shouldn't have laughed. ********* I've been wrapping the gifts in the basement. So Bristel says to me the other day, Mommy...why does Santa give the mommies and daddies the presents early? ********** I don't remember why I asked. I do remember being testy when I did. Toby...what the heck is your Webkinz password?! Toby took a deep breath and then proceeded... BCZIEL87MUY (obviously modified...because I can't remember what t...

just for funsies...

A sweet lil' clip of Trevy signing "cracker"! Make photo slide shows at www.OneTrueMedia.com Did you see it? Not just the signing... ...but the light of understanding in his eyes?! And how proud he was of himself too! That's worth wrapping up with a bow!

10

Ten years ago today... ...we said I do . And so began our journey to now. To being a family. This family. I wouldn't change a single crazy thing. I love you, honey. I was going to write some super cheesy 10 things I love about you post. But three of them are preventing me. Oh...and the four legged one too! And besides... there are more than 10 anyway. But the new sparkly one is definitely at the top of this year's list! (pssst girls...he went to Jared! Except it wasn't Jared's...but I didn't really care about the where. It was about the what! And that would be an eternity band just like I wanted! I'll take a picture when I stop biting my nails...) Happy Anniversary!

grids for Henry

As wild as it may seem from the outside... there are things about our (crazy seizure saturated) journey in which I find great peace. Blessing even. High on that list would be the heart-connect that forms between other seizure parents. Some of my closest friends on earth are other IS families. That connection is many times why I continue to update this silly ole' blog. Not just for it's therapuetic benefits. Enter Henry's mommy. Who hails from England. She followed our radical brain surgery drama as it unfolded for all of cyber space to see. I'm not sure how she found her way here. But I do know what held her. Our courageous little boys share some things in common. Infantile Spasms. And today... radical brain surgery. For the prayer warriors among us...Henry will have the invasive EEG placed. (click here to enhance the fervency of your prayers as you're reminded how hard on the heart this will be for them) He will remain with the grids in place for awhile...

what would this mean to you?

Before our family was touched by catastrophic illness all this healthcare jazz bored me. To tears. I had little concern for who was advocating for whom. Who might be managing insurance budgets. And cuts. Or for the unfortunate souls who found themselves at the short end of the coverage stick. I was too busy gearing up to save the world. One Tanzanian child at a time. ::smile:: Two years ago my thinking radically changed. Which is most likely why my working hubby would forward me the article below. (nothin' like a little hot n' steamy poli-talk) And equally why I would read it. ********** Health care loophole would allow coverage limits (the author Mr. ALONSO-ZALDIVAR knows how to catch this girl's eye) A loophole in the Senate health care bill would let insurers place annual dollar limits on medical care for people struggling with costly illnesses such as cancer , prompting a rebuke from patient advocates. The legislation that originally passed the Senate health commit...

couch potato day

Soooooo... I actually kinda hate the show. It's cheesy. And annoying. And totally not Hopkins...which I loved ! But one of the topics today is interesting enough to me that I'll probably watch. Today on The Doctors ... they'll be discussing the topic of hemispherectomy epilepsy surgery (the same as Trevy's surgery ) to control seizures in a 15 month old little boy. Click here for a synopsis of the show and find local listings in case you want to tune in too.

puppy palooza...in other words WAY too many puppy pics! (a picture marathon)

So we set off on the great puppy picking adventure yesterday afternoon... And this little chunk'a cute-a-licious is what we brought home! So those of you who've been around for awhile already know that my hubster is a HUGE O's fan. He grew up in Northern Virginia...and has a very strong loyal streak... which is why we unashamedly share that we're raising the kiddos to be just as die-hard O's as daddy-o! Which includes naming our various pets (we had three dogs in Tanzania) after something O's-ish. We had a Camden...for Camden Yards. A Brooks...Brooks Robinson. Jonathan's favorite was a huge beast of a dog we were given. Boog looked much more lion than dog. He was the perfect guard dog! We really weren't even considering getting a puppy. But then our friends had to go and offer us a little muchkin! She's a Cockapoo for the interested. Jonathan grew up with one. And it only breed we were really interested in. What with the nostalg...
